Leeds United completed the signing of 10 new players in the summer as they prepared for their return to the top flight. But their business in the summer ultimately meant that some first team stars had to leave.
The Whites had one of the most successful Championship campaigns in recent years. Farke’s side scored 95 goals and the team hit the 100-point mark. After winning the league title, transfer rumours suggested that some players could leave Elland Road.
Not every player who played a part in the promotion campaign was guaranteed to be a regular in the Premier League. Daniel Farke gave the green light for many players to depart. The summer saw Largie Ramazani, Mateo Joseph, Max Wober and Isaac Schmidt leave the club on loan.
Charlie Crew set to return to Leeds United
They were not the only ones to leave Elland Road on temporary deals; Leeds youngster Charlie Crew joined Doncaster Rovers. The young midfielder was on loan with the club for the second half of last season, and the Rovers were keen on bringing him on board this campaign.

But this season, the 19-year old has not featured much and now, it has been confirmed that he will be returning to Thorp Arch. Doncaster Rovers boss Grant McCann confirmed that the youngster will leave the club in the next couple of weeks:
“Charlie has been stop-start and the international breaks haven’t helped him, going away two or three times.
“He probably hasn’t got to the levels that I thought he would do and that he showed last year,”

Poor planning by the club
At Charlie Crew’s age, he needs first team football to develop. Obviously, he cannot be a regular for a team in the Premier League so a loan move was the best decision. But now, it has been proven that Doncaster Rovers was the wrong choice.
11 appearances in total this season is not enough for a youngster that needs playing time. Crew is talented, and would be better off with a team who could provide him with more opportunities. This is not a one-off for the 49ers this summer; Largie Ramazani and Isaac Schmidt have also barely featured at their respective clubs.
