Leeds United will be in the market for players in the January transfer window, as it is apparent that they are lacking in quality in the final third. However, the club are also looking to move on a few as they need to make some PSR room for incoming signings.
Daniel Farke may get sacked before the start of the January transfer window. However, regardless of who is in charge of the club, it is apparent that without major attacking reinforcements, the Whites could be staring at relegation from the Premier League.
The next four games could decide Farke’s fate, but the winter transfer window could be vital for Leeds if they want to remain a Premier League team next season.
Leeds may consider selling Wilfried Gnonto if the right offers arrive on their table. However, their plans to move on another attacker from their books may have to wait.
Hull City want Joe Gelhardt on a permanent deal from Leeds United at the end of the season
Joe Gelhardt has arguably been Hull City’s best player this season, and Leeds have an opportunity to recall him from his loan in the winter window.
There are suggestions that Leeds could recall him and then sell him for a fee in the winter window, when he will have 18 months left on his contract.
However, Hull City boss Sergej Jakirovic has revealed that Gelhardt has made it clear that he will be at the club until the end of the season at least.
The Tigers manager insisted that they want to sign him on a permanent deal at the end of the season and is certain that Leeds do not want him back.
“I know he is very happy to be here”, Jakirovic told BBC Humberside Sport.
“From the first contact, he wanted to come to us because he enjoys it here. He said he will stay until the end of the season, and then we will see.
“We will try to buy him to be our player.
“I don’t think Leeds see him as a player for Leeds, and this is their opinion.”

Leeds may end up getting a good fee for Gelhardt
Since last season, Gelhardt has found a home at Hull City, where he is loved and admired, and he seems to be realising his obvious potential there.
The versatile forward is having a stellar campaign in the Championship, and is happy to spend the rest of the season at Hull at least.
| Competition | Games 🏟️ | Goals ⚽ | Assists 🎯 | Minutes ⏱️ |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 🏆 Championship | 15 | 7 | 2 | 1,111 |
| ☕ EFL Cup | 1 | – | 1 | 76 |
| Total | 16 | 7 | 3 | 1,187 |
Gelhardt may have bigger suitors next summer, and Leeds may turn a decent profit from his sale at the end of the season.
For some reason, it never worked out for him at Leeds, and Daniel Farke never showed any real faith in the forward despite his obvious talent and potential.
However, Leeds are set to get a good fee from his sale if he continues to perform in the Championship this season, and will have suitors with bigger pockets lined up for him.
Hull are keen to sign him on a permanent deal, but they could become victims of him playing too well for them this season.
