Manor Solomon: A permanent deal would be a major coup for Leeds United

Leeds United’s capture of Manor Solomon from Tottenham last summer on loan was seen as a coup. He has been a highly-rated talent but a horror injury set his career back. The north London club decided it was better for him to find his feet back on loan somewhere else and the Whites saw an opportunity to capture a talented wide man. The winger had a hamstring injury a while after he joined Leeds but he has again been back in the team in the last few weeks. The Israeli is scheduled to leave Leeds at the end of the season but for the first time, the player has hinted that he would not mind joining them on a permanent deal.

Solomon has been one of Leeds’ best players over the last few weeks and is expected to play a major role in their promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season.

He has displaced the off-colour Wilfried Gnonto in the starting eleven and is now more or less the first-choice starter on the left-hand side of the Leeds forward line.

Since returning to the starting eleven, he has added real verve, pace, and threat to the Leeds forward line. With some better finishing, he could have had more goals and assists this season.

Solomon is enjoying life at Leeds and his performances have also pleased Tottenham who are happy to see him playing regularly at Elland Road.

He is scheduled to return to Spurs in the summer. But Leeds could consider keeping him at the club on a permanent deal if such a possibility arises.

Signing Manor Solomon on a permanent deal would be a major step for Leeds United

Leeds are enjoying having Manor Solomon in the team but the club would have to take a call on whether they want him on a permanent deal in the coming months.

The winger is loving life at Leeds and is having a pleasant experience working with the squad and manager Daniel Farke at Elland Road.

He remained coy on his future but the winger has not ruled out staying at Leeds beyond the end of the current loan contract.

“I love it here,” he told The Athletic.

“I love the fans. I love the club. I love the players, the manager. Especially now, I’m really enjoying it and I love living here. Of course, it’s different to London, less things to do and we have less friends here. All the Israelis, they live in London, but we found our place here.

“You can’t predict what will happen in the future, whether I come back to Tottenham, whether I go to a different team, or whether I stay here in Leeds, you can’t predict it, but, of course, for me, the door is really open.”

It is clear that Leeds have a chance to keep Solomon and talks have to take place between the Whites and Tottenham if the club want to sign him on a permanent deal.

However, Leeds will have to play in the Premier League next season if they have any chance of selling a permanent move to the player.

Solomon will unlikely want to continue at Leeds if the club are still in the Championship as he is a player who belongs at the top level.

Do Leeds have a realistic chance of keeping him?

Solomon could play a big role on the pitch to decide whether Leeds can keep him beyond the end of his current loan contract.

The 25-year-old still has three years left on his contract at Tottenham in the summer and any move to sign him on a permanent deal would be expensive.

However, Leeds would have the funds to spend big if they are in the Premier League next season and Solomon would become an attainable target.

It will also depend on whether Ange Postecoglou and whether he feels the Israeli could have a future at Tottenham. However, Spurs have a plethora of wide attackers and Solomon is likely to find it hard to get into the team.

If Leeds are in the Premier League and Solomon is willing to stay, there is a legitimate chance the Whites will sign him on a permanent deal in the summer transfer window.
