Manor Solomon Is Too Good For The Championship, Insists Ex-Leeds Boss

Former Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur loanee Manor Solomon is too good to play in the Championship and admitted that he was unplayable at times during his debut for the Whites against Hull City on Saturday.

The 25-year-old Israeli winger joined Leeds on loan from Tottenham last week in his quest to play regular first-team football this season, which he was unlikely to get at Spurs.

The Premier League club signed Solomon from Shakhtar Donetsk last summer but he missed almost the entirety of the 2023/24 campaign because of a serious knee injury.

Solomon is looking to play regular football and prove his fitness at Leeds this term before he is to return to Tottenham at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Neil Redfearn Feels Manor Solomon Is Far Too Good For The Championship

Solomon made his debut for Leeds against Hull at Elland Road on Saturday and he showed all the qualities that made Spurs sign him from Shakhtar Donetsk last year.

The Israeli was brilliant as he registered an assist and played a starring role in Leeds’ 2-0 win over the Tigers at home over the weekend in West Yorkshire.

Redfearn insisted that Solomon was clearly the star on the pitch for Leeds on Saturday and conceded that the winger is far too good a player for the Championship.

He admitted that he made life miserable for the Hull defenders at times because he looked unplayable in the first 20 minutes of the Championship fixture.

“I thought Manor Solomon was probably the man of the match”, Redfearn said on BBC Radio Leeds.

“He has got a quality that’s better than this level, you can obviously say that.

“Initially, in the first 20 minutes, it was like tackling smoke and he was unplayable at times.”

Solomon is delighted to play football again after last season’s injury horror

The game against Hull was Solomon’s first official fixture since featuring for Tottenham against Liverpool in the Premier League in September last year.

Getting back on the pitch after almost one year was a source of happiness for the Israeli who had been waiting for this day for a long time as he recovered from the serious knee injury.

The winger stressed that he enjoyed his debut more as his performance contributed to getting Leeds a win over a tough Championship opponent such as Hull.

“I really enjoyed it”, Solomon told LUTV.

“It was a great debut because of the win and I was happy to contribute to the team.

“It was a long time since I had an official game and I am so happy to be back and in the team.”
