Real Betis sporting director Ramon Planes said that Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca called “every day” to push for a move to the La Liga side.
Speaking on Betis TV – reported via Marca – said Roca was very eager to join the Spanish club during the window. The 26-year joined Leeds last summer after a failed stint at Bayern Munich. So far, has started all four of the club’s La Liga matches with Betis winning seven points.
Roca had a bright start to last season, however faded as the club went on a horrible run of games without winning under Jesse Marsch. He was also benched in the last three games of the season as Sam Allardyce made a bold decision in Leeds’ fight for survival.
Planes had high praise for the on-loan midfielder:
“He was desperate, he called every day. He left because of a good contract situation,” Planes told Marca. “He wanted to return and that’s how he told us. And I told him ‘calm down, we’re going to do it’’.
“Marc is a boy who’s going to give us a lot,” He added. “When the possibility with Manuel was seen, he immediately told us yes, that he knew him, the season is very long. He’s going to give us many things.”
The Spanish international still has three years remaining on his current deal with Leeds United.
