Max Wober ready to wait for his chance at Leeds United this season

Max Wöber in action for Leeds United, focused and determined during a match.

Leeds United centre-back Max Wober has insisted that he is prepared to stand back and wait for his chance to get into the starting eleven this season.

Wober spent last season on loan at Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach and was expected to leave Leeds this summer after they failed to secure promotion to the Premier League.

However, the Austrian stayed put at Elland Road and is one of Daniel Farke’s centre-back options in his squad in the ongoing campaign.

Wober has yet to make an appearance from the bench in the Championship this term and only featured in the EFL Cup defeat against Middlesbrough last month.

However, the Austrian is not losing patience yet despite warming the bench at the start of the season for Leeds.

Max Wober understands Daniel Farke’s decision not to make too many changes to the team

Wober has been an unused substitute in three of Leeds’ opening four Championship games and is yet to play a minute of league football this season.

However, the defender is not prepared to lose his head just yet and stressed that the quality of the other centre-backs in the squad is at a similar level.

He conceded that it is natural that Farke is avoiding making too many changes to the team and he is ready to wait for his chance.

“We are three central defenders who are at a very similar level”, the centre-back told Sky Sports Austria (via the Yorkshire Evening Post).

“If we remain successful and nothing happens, I wouldn’t change much as a coach. So I have to stand back and wait for the chance.”

Defender insists Leeds are the best team in the Championship

Wober stressed that he was never desperate to leave the club and believes Leeds are the perfect fit for him despite being aware that he will have to work hard to get back into the team.

He feels Leeds are the best team in the league on paper and getting promoted to the Premier League remains the sole aim for this season.

“I’m at Leeds, that’s a perfect fit for me. I never said that I absolutely wanted to leave. I accepted this challenge, but I know that it won’t be easy to work my way back to the same position as before”, he continued.

“The chance to play in the Premier League again is huge because on paper we have the best team and a broad squad.

“Our goal is clearly promotion,”
