Pundit Micah Richards says he was as confused as anybody when Georginio Rutter’s first Leeds goal against Fulham was ruled out.
Leeds put the ball in the net in the first half, but the goal was cancelled after a foul in the build up. Joao Palhinha went on to score for Fulham in the second half before Manor Solomon sealed a 2-0 win for the Cottagers.
BBC pundit Micah Richards believes it was the reaction of Harry Wilson that made the referee blow his whistle:
“I think it’s soft. I agree,” he said
“The referee makes a decision, he sees a little push. I think he’s got to give it just because of the reaction of [Harry] Wilson. When he goes down he’s theatrical.”
“Maybe, but I don’t think if it goes to VAR they overturn it. I really don’t but I do think it’s soft but I think it’s the reaction of Wilson that made it.”
The disallowed goal was unfortunate for Leeds, who put up a very good performance in Javi Gracia’s second game in charge. After their exit from the FA Cup, The Whites turn their attention back to the Premier League, where they face Chelsea this weekend.
