Mo Salah was a mere spectator as Leeds United came back twice to get a draw against Liverpool in a pulsating game at Elland Road, which finished 3-3.
Leeds’ persistence paid off in stoppage time when Ao Tanaka slotted home a late equaliser, securing a point that felt fully earned after a fiercely contested Premier League showdown.
Liverpool had looked set to pull away after Hugo Ekitike scored twice shortly after the break, putting the visitors 2-0 ahead. But Leeds hit back through Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Anton Stach, restoring parity and reigniting the atmosphere.
Dominik Szoboszlai’s strike in the 80th minute briefly seemed to settle the contest, yet Leeds refused to give in. Tanaka’s last-gasp intervention ensured the Whites ended a remarkable night at Elland Road with smiles and momentum.
Mo Salah takes on Liverpool and Arne Slot after the draw at Leeds United
Salah remained an unused substitute as Liverpool struggled again, and their problematic season continued at Elland Road.
The Egyptian has not been at his best this season. However, the Liverpool star is now feeling like he is being blamed for all of the team’s problems.
He signed a new contract with Liverpool earlier this season. But the star man admitted that he has no relationship with Arne Slot, and he feels someone at the club wants him to be the fall guy for this season.
Salah insisted that promises to him have been broken, and he doesn’t know whether he is going to play at home against Brighton next weekend.
“The third time on the bench, I think for the first time in my career,” he told reporters post-match at Elland Road.
“I’m very, very disappointed to be fair. I have done so much for this club down the years, and especially last season. Now I’m sitting on the bench, and I don’t know why.
“It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus. That is how I am feeling. I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame.
“I got a lot of promises in the summer, and so far, I am on the bench for three games, so I can’t say they keep their promises. I said many times before that I had a good relationship with the manager, and all of a sudden, we don’t have any relationship. I don’t know why, but it seems to me, how I see it, that someone doesn’t want me in the club.
“This club, I always support it. My kids will always support it. I love the club so much, I will always. I called my mum yesterday – you guys didn’t know if I would start or not, but I knew. Yesterday I said, ‘come to the Brighton game’ (next Saturday). I don’t know if I am going to play or not, but I am going to enjoy it.
“In my head, I’m going to enjoy that game because I don’t know what is going to happen. I will be in Anfield to say goodbye to the fans and go to the Africa Cup.”
Leeds United are thankful Salah stayed on the bench
Leeds were mightily pleased that Slot didn’t throw Salah in towards the end, as the Whites were tired of him celebrating goals against them.
| Stat | Record |
|---|---|
| Appearances (PL vs Leeds) | 6 |

Salah has scored nine times in six Premier League games against Leeds and was on the winning side in four of those occasions.
The forward has an exceptional record against Leeds in the top flight, and it was a real shock that the Liverpool manager didn’t throw him in when his team needed the win.
Leeds have nothing to do with Salah’s beef with Slot. However, they took advantage of things being frosty between the two today.
