Leeds United have been a much better side since Ethan Ampadu returned from his injury. And it has been a huge benefit to the team, considering their current form.

Sean Longstaff and Anton Stach have been grabbing the headlines, but Ampadu has been the anchor in a very solid midfield trio. Leeds invested a lot in the defence and the midfield, and that could be their saving grace come the end of the season.

Leeds sit in mid table so far with eight points from six games, with a big result against Bournemouth over the weekend.

Leeds United midfielder Ethan Ampadu missed out on the last international break as he was dealing with an injury from the first few games of the season. Craig Bellamy has announced that the midfielder will be in the Wales squad for the upcoming window, and explained how important Ampadu is on the pitch.

“His leadership skills, for someone so young, is beyond impressive.

“But he’s just a talented player and has the — I know you hear me like broken record — but he definitely has the profile I like in a six.

“And, also, the big part of this as well is we need depth in that area. So, when Ethan is out, you have to have that depth. Now, we’ve been able to expose that as well in being able to give players the opportunity.

“Because we haven’t had Ethan. But, for me, it’s such a key area of the pitch for how we play. And Ethan is a top level performer in that area. So, hopefully, everything comes off and he’s able to meet up with us Sunday.

“Because, these two games, with the intensity that’s going to come, the angles we’re going to need to create, the speed that we’re going to have to create those angles at, he is definitely a player that is able to do that.”

Leeds United star has been important under Daniel Farke

Ethan Ampadu played a lot of roles and positions early in his career without nailing down one position. But since he arrived at Leeds United, he has found a bit of stability under Daniel Farke. He was one of the Championship’s best players last season, and his start to the Premier League campaign has already showed how valuable of a player he is.
