‘Negotiations underway’ to secure Leeds United exit for defender – he has no future at the club

Leeds United are expected to undergo an overhaul of their squad in the summer regardless of whether they get promoted. However, the Whites are seemingly on their way to the Premier League this season and will need to spend big in the transfer window to have a squad that withstand the demands of the top flight. Promotion will bring in additional revenue but they will also need to sell players well to ensure they have a bigger kitty to spend in the next window. There are certain players the Whites are expected to move on in the summer and it seems negotiations for one of the exits are already underway.

The Whites are placed nicely to secure automatic promotion to the Premier League after collecting 69 points from 32 Championship games. If they remain true to their form, they are almost certain to finish in the top two, if not win the league outright.

Promotion talk has also led to discussions around what Leeds would need to do in the summer to strengthen the squad and prepare for the rigours of the top flight.

It is clear Leed will need to spend big in the transfer window and increase the quality of the squad by several manifolds if they want to withstand the Premier League next season.

If promotion is achieved, Leeds will have a considerable war chest for the next transfer window but the club will also depend on selling players well to further increase the kitty.

It seems the wheels are in motion behind the scenes to secure the exit of one of the players who does not have a long-term future at Elland Road.

Leeds United in talks to secure defender’s Elland Road exit

Rasmus Kristensen joined Leeds in the summer of 2022 and was part of the team that got relegated from the Premier League at the end of that season.

He wasted little time to move on from Leeds once relegation was confirmed and joined Roma on loan in 2023. He secured another loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt last summer.

Even if Leeds get back to the Premier League, the Dane doesn’t have a future at Elland Road and he is expected to secure his permanent exit at the end of the season.

Eintracht Frankfurt have a €15m option to buy in the loan agreement but the German club do not want to spend such a figure on the defender.

However, they do want to retain him and according to German daily Bild, negotiations are underway between the two clubs to secure his transfer.

Leeds want to sell him and Eintracht are hoping to negotiate down the price in the coming months in their pursuit of signing Kristensen on a permanent deal in the summer.

With the Whites keen to sell him, Eintracht fancy their chances of securing an agreement to sign the Denmark international in the next transfer window.

Kristensen does not have a future at Leeds as the fans will never forgive him

Leeds fans do remember the players who moved on from the club once they got relegated from the Premier League and shied away from their responsibility.

Brenden Aaronson has struggled to win back all the supporters despite working his socks off this season as he did leave Leeds on loan for Union Berlin in the summer of 2023.

Max Wober is also not the most popular member of the squad and his injury problems have further exacerbated his issues at Elland Road.

Kristensen has been away from Leeds for more than 18 months and a return to Elland Road seems impossible given he has never been keen to help the club get back to the top flight despite playing a role in their relegation.

A permanent move away and a clean break are something both Leeds and Kristensen need next summer. The Whites will get a significant fee while the defender hopes to leave this part of his career behind him.
