West Ham emerged from Elland Road victorious as they came back from a goal down to win 2-1 thanks to a late goal from Michail Antonio.
Antonio himself was speaking to the media after the game and was full of praise for the way Leeds play. “It was unbelievable. There’s nothing better than coming back from 1-0 down, especially against a quality team like Leeds because the way they play is completely different.”
He went on to compare playing against Leeds to running a marathon. “Playing against Leeds is like running a marathon – that’s exactly how I see it. I would never run a marathon and that’s the closest thing to it for me!”
By saying that he would never run a marathon, Antonio is suggesting that he wouldn’t have the energy to play this way week in, week out. Antonio isn’t the first Premier League player to say this, with Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey saying something similar last season.
