Leeds United signed 10 new players in the summer transfer window, but fans were more concerned with what happened towards the end. After spending most of the window looking for a major attacking signing, they ended up empty handed.
Multiple players were lined up including Rodrigo Muniz, Bilal El Khannouss and Facundo Buonanotte. But no deal went through; the club attempted a late bid for Fulham’s Harry Wilson on deadline day, which also failed.
This summer is not the first time the Whites have recruited a lot of players in one window. In 2023, the club backed Jesse Marsch as they hoped he could turn the club’s fortunes around. Leeds were eventually relegated that season, and a lot of players jumped ship to avoid playing in the Championship.

With multiple additions this summer, there is the possibility that history could repeat itself. But one player looks like he is enjoying the prospect of having a long career at Elland Road. Sean Longstaff has been talking about his time at Leeds so far.
“It’s really special,” the midfielder said, speaking to LUTV when asked about playing against Leeds at Elland Road.
“I played here a few times and whenever the crowd get up, you always feel like Leeds are going to score and now to have that on your side is a massive privilege really.
“I think to come here and play every week, it’s something that I definitely don’t take for granted.”
Then he made a statement about playing at Elland Road for ‘as long as possible’.
“I’m looking to do that for as long as possible and hopefully we can keep putting in performances and picking up points to stay in the league because ultimately there is nothing better than playing in this stadium when it is in the Premier League.”
Robbie Evans confirms relegation clause solution
If the club end up back in the Championship this year, fans will not have to worry about new signings jumping ship. Managing director Ronnie Evans revealed that there has been a change in the contracts of new signings. They now do not have relegation clauses that are lower than the fee the player was signed for, while some do not have clauses at all.
