Newcastle, Leicester and Leeds to make January bids for Celtic midfielder

In-form Celtic star Ryan Christie is on the radar of three Premier League clubs as he continues to impress for the hoops.

Christie, who can play on the wing or as a number 10, scored another screamer in Celtic’s Scottish Cup final triumph on Sunday to keep up his impressive record since signing for the Glasgow giants in 2015.

The former Inverness man averages a goal every three games and his quality has not gone unnoticed by a number of Premier League big hitters.

Newcastle United, Leicester City and Leeds United are all looking at the Scottish international, who still has time on his side having turned 25 earlier this year.

Christie’s contract at Celtic Park runs out in the summer of 2022 and there are no signs at this stage of him committing his long-term future, which would warn off any suitors.

The SPL champions are likely to receive offers in January with the player valued at around £10 million, though they may hold out until next summer in the hopes of tying him down to a new deal.

Christie’s stance at this stage remains unknown, however things will become clearer over the next few weeks with the opportunity to play in the Premier League potentially too good to turn down.

While Newcastle and Leeds are more desperate for a player in Christie’s position, it is believed the player will favour a move to Leicester and a reunion with former manager Brendan Rodgers.

The Foxes currently sit second in the Premier League and are looking to build on their squad depth in January, with Rodgers keen on Christie.

Leicester face a hectic fixture schedule in the new year with games in the FA Cup and Europa League, therefore Christie’s arrival could be a useful one as Rodgers looks to avoid another late-season collapse due to fatigue.
