Newcastle United star drops hint over his future as Leeds United have been linked – deal could be made this summer

Leeds United are in the process of identifying transfer targets this summer. The club are preparing for their return to the Premier League. The Championship season is not over, with one game left to decide who wins the league.

Leeds are away to Plymouth, while their title rivals Burnley, will be at home against Millwall. All Daniel Farke’s side need to do is win on Saturday. Alternatively, Leeds can match the Claret’s result because both sides are level on points, with the Whites having a superior goal difference.

Many players have been linked with a move to Elland Road over the past few weeks. But majority of these rumours involve goalkeepers and midfielders. Illan Meslier is set to leave in the summer, which would explain the need for a number one. The latest target is Augsburg keeper Finn Dahmen.

And it is reported that Daniel Farke is looking for an experienced player in the middle of the park for the Premier League. Newcastle’s Sean Longstaff is the recent name to be linked with a move to Elland Road.

The 27-year old has been open about his future this season; hinting that he might move to a team that give him playing time:

“I want to be valued as a player, I want to be appreciated as a player and whether it’s here great. If it’s not here and it’s somewhere else, it’ll be somewhere else.

“In a way I live day to day, game to game and I just try and take in every game. I get to go to work every day and spend it with my best friends, I don’t know what’s coming ahead.

“I don’t know what’s coming down the line, I just try to embrace every day and enjoy every minute because ultimately it won’t last forever.”

Sean Longstaff is a great Premier League signing

Bringing in the 27-year old would provide some much needed experience to the midfield. The current core of Gruev, Tanaka and Ampadu is great, but Longstaff brings a different dimension. His dynamism and ability to cover ground will be a huge addition to the team. The midfielder has shown he can chip in with goals during his Premier League career too.
