‘No-Brainer’ – Leeds United tipped to snap up 68-goal Premier League star for free

Leeds United are in the market for a striker as Daniel Farke urges the club to bring in attacking reinforcements before the end of the transfer window. The Whites are pushing hard to add new faces to the final third, but they are rapidly running out of time.

Farke has been vocal about the fact that he doesn’t feel his squad are ready for a long, grinding Premier League season for one key reason. The Whites are yet to add to their forward line this summer, and the manager has made it clear that his options in attack are weaker compared to what he had last season.

Leeds have turned their attention to adding more players to their attack before the end of the window, and are in the market for a striker, a winger and an attacking midfielder. However, the club have not made progress on those deals with just weeks left in the summer transfer window.

The Whites only have Lukas Nmecha and Joel Piroe as their striker options ahead of the big Premier League opener against Everton at Elland Road next Monday.

Can you name the team Leeds United signed these players from in the 2000s?

Leeds United told to sign former West Ham striker Michail Antonio

Michail Antonio left West Ham at the end of last season when his contract expired, and the Jamaican is looking for a new club in the ongoing window.

He would prefer to stay in the Premier League, where he developed as a solid goalscorer, and he netted 68 times for West Ham in the English top flight.

Former Arsenal star Ray Parlour believes snapping up the 35-year-old forward on a free transfer should be a complete no-brainer for newly promoted Leeds this summer.

He feels the forward’s experience will come in handy for Leeds and their young players in the dressing room, while he is still good enough to make an impact from the bench in the Premier League.

“It’s a no-brainer”, Parlour said on talkSPORT.

“He’s got all the experience; he can probably help young players.

“15, 20 minutes off the bench. I’m going right.”

Leeds need a striker for the starting eleven

Antonio has bags of Premier League experience, and under different circumstances, he would have been an excellent addition to their squad this summer.

However, Leeds already have squad options in Nmecha and Piroe, and do not need another striker for the bench at this stage of the transfer window.

The Whites are looking for a number 9 who will lead the line for the team next season, and at 35, Antonio no longer has the legs to do that in the Premier League.

It’d be very curious if Leeds decide to go in and try to sign the former West Ham striker on a free transfer in the coming weeks.
