‘Not a foregone conclusion’ – Ex-Premier League striker makes massive claim on Leeds United survival chances

Leeds United have made a solid start to the season, and their Premier League survival chances have been boosted. The Whites have looked solid and competitive at the start, and they are now being backed to stay above the relegation zone this term.

The Whites have seven points from their opening five Premier League games. They have made a solid start to the campaign, and are looking good enough to stay up in the top flight at the end of the campaign.

However, Daniel Farke is aware that it will be a long season, and his side will face challenges and periods of poor form that they must overcome throughout the campaign.

But Leeds and the other two promoted sides have looked better than other teams that came up from the Championship in recent seasons, and are being tipped to do better than they were initially predicted to at the start of the campaign.

‘Leeds and the other promoted teams getting relegated are not a foregone conclusion’ – Darren Bent

Darren Bent was talking about the quality of the promoted teams and how some of the established Premier League sides, such as West Ham and Wolves, are feeling the heat this season.

The former Premier League striker stressed that for the first time in a few years, it’s not a given that the promoted sides will get relegated from the Premier League.

He conceded that the gap between the Championship and the Premier League has been widening over the years, but it doesn’t feel that huge this season.

“For the first time in a few years, it’s not a foregone conclusion that the three teams that came up will go back down”, Bent said on talkSPORT.

“We always say that the gap between the Championship and the Premier League is massive.

“But this season it ain’t.”

Leeds may look in a much better position before the October break

With seven points from five games, Leeds have eased some of the pressure by making a decent start to the season, but it could get better in the next couple of weeks.

Leeds have looked a tough nut to crack at Elland Road, and their next two Premier League games are at home, before the October international break.

Two good results against Bournemouth and Tottenham in the next two games, and Leeds could be in a far stronger position by next month.

Leeds will back themselves to at least avoid defeats in the next two fixtures at home and take it from there after the break.
