Nuno Santo to Leeds gaining momentum – Ben Jacobs

According to Ben Jacobs, Nuno Espirito Santo’s reported move to Leeds United is in the pipeline.

The club have been without a manager for over a week since sacking Jesse Marsch. The American coach was dismissed on the back of the clubs poor form this season. Leeds have only won four Premier League games this campaign.

Reports came out earlier this week that the club have targeted former Wolves and Spurs coach Nuno Santo. The club is keen on the Portuguese tactician, but will have to pay his £5.3million release clause. Jacobs says Leeds are keen to hire Nuno over Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard:

“There are legs in the Nuno Espirito Santo links and he’s a manager that comes with Premier League experience.

“I think that there’s more of a worry around Lampard or Gerrard. Gerrard is probably, of those two, the one that has been more closely linked because Leeds need a manager with a proven capability of firefighting. It’s not easy to walk into that Leeds United dressing room mid-season.” he told GiveMeSport.

Leeds interim coach Michael Skubala remains in charge of the team until a permanent appointment is made. The Whites face Everton this weekend.
