One way or another – Ex-Premier League ace makes Leeds United prediction

IMAGO / Every Second Media

Former Premier League star Jermaine Pennant has warned Leeds United that there are a lot of big teams in the Championship who are trying to come up but believes that they will be in the promotion mix at the end of the season.

Leeds have made a slow start to the season in the Championship after their playoff final heartbreak at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

The Whites are sitting ninth in the Championship standings after the first five league games of the season and the fans have been left frustrated by some of the performances.

However, Leeds are keen to back Farke despite claims of him being under pressure at the club following their defeat against Burnley at Elland Road last weekend.

But Pennant stressed that Leeds will definitely be in the promotion mix at the business end of the campaign next year.

Leeds United will be in the promotion race, one way or another

The former Premier League star admitted that the Championship is a relentless league and Leeds did start the season as one of the promotion contenders.

However, he warned that Leeds are in a fight with some big clubs in the race to get promoted and it is likely to be a tough season.

But the former winger is backing Leeds to be in the promotion mix either in the playoffs or as automatic contenders.

“It’s a relentless league. But Leeds were in the play-offs last year in the final, and then narrowly missed out. So, I think they will want to go one step better and go up”, Pennant told MyBettingSites via the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“They started the season as favourites to get promotion. But there are some big teams down there with them who dropped out from the Premier League last year.

“They’ll be definitely fighting in the playoffs, if not for automatic promotion.

“I’m sure by the end of the season, we’re going to see Leeds either one way or another looking to get back in the Premier League whether it’s through automatic or through the playoffs.

“But also, it’s so interesting when the clubs come down from the Premier League, and we see them struggle to make their way back up straight away.”
