Patrick Bamford believes Accrington result will give the team confidence

Leeds forward Patrick Bamford said the club’s victory over Accrington Stanley was ‘a welcome distraction’.

Leeds beat Accrington 3-1 in their FA Cup fourth round clash to book fifth round tie at either Fulham or Sunderland. The win was just the 4th from Leed’s last 20 games.

Bamford is adamant Saturday’s display at Accrington can spark a run of good results:

“I think so. I think it’s almost been a welcome distraction in terms of there was a little bit of pressure coming on to us and I think having a cup run has taken that away a little bit and also given us a bit of confidence that we can win games. It’s a great achievement (to make the fifth round) and I know we have struggled in cup runs in the past so it’s nice.” he said speaking to the BBC.

Bamford on Marsch’s words to the team

When asked what Leeds boss Jesse Marsch said to the team, Bamford replied:

“Just that we have been growing with each performance, it’s just turning the one point or zero points into three points.”

Lees sit 15th in the Premier League table one point above the relegation zone, with a game in hand.
