Patrick Bamford called up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad

After narrowly missing out on the chance to represent England at Euro 2020 this summer, Patrick Bamford has now been called up for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers next month.

Bamford scored 17 goals last season, more than he scored in the entirety of Leeds’ promotion season. Only Harry Kane scored more goals than Bamford amongst English players last campaign, so it feels like this callup has been overdue.

Bamford will have the opportunity to make his debut against either Poland, Andorra, or Hungary alongside fellow Leeds teammate Kalvin Phillips, who has also been called up to the squad once again following his starring role at Euro 2020.

Bamford recently signed a new five-year deal that will keep him at Elland Road until 2026, and can now add this England call-up to the long list of achievements he has reached since joining Leeds.
