Leeds United coach Daniel Farke hints that Patrick Bamford will start against Rotherham as Georginio Rutter is a doubt for Friday.
The German coach mentioned that some Leeds players would not be in contention to play as early as Friday because they would not have enough time to train after arriving from the international break.
Farke also said Georginio Rutter is a huge injury doubt for the game against Rotherham:
“Late decision on Gelhardt, Shackleton and Spence. Shackleton wasn’t out too long so it would be easier. Spence is the most difficult position, he had a difficult pre-season and has been out for eight weeks. It depends on which position int he squad we need. There are question marks behind some players. Rutter is a big doubt because he came back with an abdominal strain. He hasn’t been able to train with us.”
This means that in place of the Frenchman, Patrick Bamford may be in line for a rare start this season according to Farke:
“When a player is not available it’s always a chance for others to shine. We’ll see if Rutter plays. I never speak about the starting line-up. I speak about my appreciation for Patrick and it’s good to have him back for several weeks in training. I would have no problems to have him in the side.”
The Whites are away to Rotherham on Friday.
