Patrick Bamford has been in talks to complete a free transfer move to Getafe. The Spanish club are in the market for a striker, and the former Leeds man has emerged as a key target because of his free agent status.
The 32-year-old striker left Leeds as a free agent towards the end of the transfer window after the club decided to terminate his contract through a lump sum payoff to the player, who spent seven years at Elland Road.
Bamford was not happy with the way his departure was handled over the summer. He was left out of the first-team pre-season training, and he was with the Under-21s until his future was sorted out.
His agents have been in advanced negotiations with Getafe over a deal to take him to the Spanish club, and the forward is ready to fly out as soon as he has the green light from his camp.

Getafe coach Jose Bordalas appeared to have played down the links between the club and Bamford earlier this week, despite the speculation of ongoing negotiations.
The Spanish side played out a 1-1 draw against Alaves on Tuesday night, where the home side’s need for a striker was again exposed.
Bordalas conceded that his squad are short of numbers up front and pointed out that Alaves had options on the bench to make changes, which he didn’t have.
He indicated that it is going to be a very tough season for Getafe if the club do not bring in a new striker soon.
“It’s clear we all know the squad is short”, when asked if he needs a new striker, Bordalas said in a press conference.
“We saw Deportivo Alaves; they’ve made a lot of changes and have a very competitive squad.
“We can’t rotate as much as we would have liked; we have to adapt; it’s going to be a tremendously difficult year.”
