Paul Merson gives his verdict ahead of Leeds United vs Burnley game

Some Leeds United fans will be pleased with how the season has gone so far. The Whites have expected above what everyone has expected at this point of the season.

Daniel Farke’s changes early in the season seem to be paying off now. In the last two games against Bournemouth and Spurs, Leeds could have come out with six points but only got one point.

Converting chances has been a problem in the past few games for the attack. Hopefully Leeds’ stars find their scoring boots ahead of their visit to Turf Moor this weekend.

Football pundit Paul Merson has given his prediction on what he thinks could happen on Saturday. According to Merson, the game is too close to call and will most likely end in a stalemate.

“A Leeds win would send them seven points clear of Burnley and the relegation zone. If Burnley get three points, they are just a point behind Leeds.

“That explains how much of a high-stakes clash this is for both.

“I don’t think Burnley have got going just yet. There’s only four points between them but honestly, there’s a lot between the sides if you look at just performances. Leeds have comfortably been the better side.

“If Leeds perform like they did against Wolves, they win this game. But, I can’t pick a clear winner here.

“If it ends up being a draw like I think, both Burnley and Leeds will be in that bottom five or six all season.”

Saturday should be a must win for Daniel Farke

With how Leeds United have started the season, a win against the Clarets should be guaranteed. No matter how early it is in the season, this is a relegation clash, whoever wins three points in this game sets themselves up well for the rest of the campaign.

Daniel Farke’s side have performed much better than Burnley have this season. The team have also scored in every match since the beat Wolves 3-1. However, Scott Parker’s record against Leeds over the last year will be something to take note of. But ultimately, the Whites should be able to find a way past the clarets at Turf Moor.
