After making it through a very difficult fixture list, Leeds United have a big game against Crystal Palace this weekend. The Whites will be full of confidence after going three games unbeaten.
Daniel Farke masterminded huge results against Chelsea and Liverpool over the last two games. This has given the club hope that they can get some points on the board ahead of January.
It will be a difficult task this weekend, as they face the Eagles who have the best away record in the Premier League. But Leeds have managed to topple similar teams on their visit to Elland Road.
Paul Merson makes stunning prediction for Leeds United game on Saturday
Football pundit Paul Merson has given his verdict on what he thinks will happen when Oliver Glasner and Crystal Palace visit Elland Road on Saturday in his Sportskeeda column.
”I’m going for Leeds to win this one! Crystal Palace look like a really tired football team now.
”I know Palace made several changes in midweek, but I doubt they have a chance here. Leeds have turned a bend in recent weeks.
”They are now on a run of three games without a defeat. If you’re a Leeds fan and you need more positivity, they have also scored at least one goal in each of their last six games.
”If you need to stay up, you need to score goals. In this league, 0-0 draws won’t get you anywhere!
”I believe it’s a direct battle between Leeds and West Ham to avoid relegation. If Brentford lose this weekend, you can consider them to be in it too, but that’s unlikely.”
He then adds a very bold statement to his prediction, saying the Whites can win the game at half-time:
”If Leeds play with the same tempo we’ve seen them in recent weeks, they can beat Palace by half-time at Elland Road!

Leeds stand a huge chance of a result
Many factors are in the home side’s favour; firstly, Palace are coming off the back of a midweek game. Oliver Glasner has already complained about how fatigue will affect the players. Leeds on the other hand have had a full week to prepare for this fixture. The last time the Whites faced a similar scenario, they beat West Ham, who played on the Monday night before the weekend.
| Statistic | Crystal Palace Away | Leeds United Home |
|---|---|---|
| Games Played | 8 | 8 |
| Points | 16 | 12 |
| Goals Scored | 11 | 13 |
| Goals Conceded | 5 | 11 |
The Elland Road factor will also come into play; the Whites have picked up almost every single one of their points at home this season. Leeds have caused many upsets in front of their home crowd, and could deliver the same on Saturday night.
