“Not Premier League standard” – Pennant slams Marc Roca for Man City performance

Jermaine Pennant said on TalkSPORT that he was not impressed with Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca on Wednesday night.

The former Leeds man said that the Spaniard struggled during the loss to Manchester City, and should have been taken off after 25 minutes. Roca played in a new look midfield alongside Adam Forshaw and both looked off the pace throughout the game.

Pennant did not hold back assessing the performance, even suggesting Roca was not good enough for the Premier League:

“I can’t see the quality apart from Gnonto. He caused problems. They looked flat. Oh, Marc Roca. I would’ve hooked him. Dragged him, pulled him out after 25 minutes. Lad, get a shower. That is not Premier League standard.”

According to FotMob app, Roca was one of the worst Leeds players in the game with a 6.0 rating. The midfielder only completed 26 passes, failed to win one tackle, failed to complete a cross and was dribbled past twice. Roca also lost four out of his ten duels contested, causing two fouls in the process.

It is easy to single out the Spaniard, but the truth is most of the team did not show up last night. Brenden Aaronson even said the team need to get better, hopefully they get a result against Newcastle this weekend.
