Leeds United are focused on ensuring that they get promoted to the Premier League at the end of the season. With seven games left in the season, the Whites have a challenge to get their campaign back on track and return to winning ways as soon as possible. However, a big claim has been made about a key decision Leeds could be forced to make soon.
Daniel Farke has boldly proclaimed that Leeds United will be in the Premier League next season despite his side battling fatigue and poor form at this stage of the campaign.
The Leeds boss is backing his players to get the job done and secure promotion despite winning just one of their last five Championship games.
He is also possibly battling for his future as well because the 49ers are unlikely to stick with him if Leeds fail to get promoted for the second year running.
Do not underestimate the power Leeds United have with RedBull associated with them – Journalist
Graeme Bailey has weighed in on Farke’s future at Leeds, and he conceded that he would not rule out Leeds considering replacing him even if they get promoted.
He stressed RedBull’s contacts across the world make Leeds an enticing job for many managers, so Farke’s position is less secure than other managers in a similar position.
The journalist insisted that Leeds will not waste time replacing the German if Leeds make a big start in the Premier League next season.
“I wouldn’t rule out the conversation [of an exit]. The 49ers use RedBull”, Bailey told LeedsUnited.News.
“RedBull know what they’re doing. If Leeds go top two, I don’t see them changing. Never say never.
“With RedBull’s contacts and the club Leeds’ size, I think people underestimate the pull Leeds have. I don’t see them doing it with the pull Leeds have. But last-day scraping it, it wouldn’t surprise me.
“He’s not as secure as Chris Wilder, he’s secure however they go up. He’d be on a short leash, he’d be sacked by November, December if they made a bad start.”
Farke is fighting for his future at Elland Road
The 49ers decided to stick with Farke despite Leeds losing the plot towards the end of last season and losing the playoff final against Southampton.
However, time is running out for the German, and if Leeds again fail to get promoted, he is likely to pay with his job at the end of the season.
Can you name these past and present Leeds United players?
The Leeds boss is under real pressure, and there are suggestions that if he doesn’t change his ways, a few key decisions could be taken out of his hands.
Patience is wearing thin at Leeds, and if the Whites again mess up the automatic promotion race, even a playoff win might not be enough to save Farke.
