Player expected to sign with Leeds United soon – loan move being planned

Leeds United have had better luck dealing with transfers than dealing with the current players at the club. So far this summer, two signings have arrived and just one player has left.

The Whites have been trying to offload players since the transfer window opened. But so far, the only exit has been Rasmus Kristensen to Frankfurt. The club decided to hold talks with Sam Byram and Junior Firpo to renew their contracts, but with just days to go before the deals expire, nothing has materialized.

Leeds will be hoping that their luck changes after positive talks with Dan James. The Welsh forward is reportedly keen on signing a new deal, after there was an initial dispute in the talks. James could reportedly sign a new deal in the coming days. He will not be alone, as another player could also extend his commitment.

According to Leeds Live, James Debayo could sign a new deal this summer. The defender was initially reluctant to put pen to paper, but it looks like both parties have resolved the issue. The youngster got his first taste of first team football last season under Daniel Farke.

Debayo has two paths this season

It will ultimately come down to Daniel Farke to decide, but the youngster will either remain with the first team or go out on loan. If the club cannot find a replacement for Max Wober if he leaves, then Debayo remains as depth. The Austrian featured in just eight games last season.

However, if a new face comes in, then the defender can go out on loan and play some meaningful minutes. Debayo has been a highly rated talent and Thorp Arch, and will eventually become a first team star. How Leeds handle his development will be key.
