Player set for FA punishment after Leeds United game

Leeds United fans could not have pictured a worse return from the international break than what happened this past weekend. Going into the game at Turf Moor, the Whites were rightly tagged as the favourites.

With their start to the season, and Burnley having just four points and one will all season, everything looked set for Daniel Farke’s side to get a good result. But the team were in for a real shock when the Clarets took the lead just 20 minutes into the game. Lesley Ugochukwu was left completely unmarked as he headed home from Kyle Walker’s cross.

The Leeds players once again forgot their shooting boots, as they missed several chances, including Brenden Aaronson only managing to hit the bar when faced with Dubravka one-on-one. Scott Parker’s side clinched the win when Luom Tchaouna let fly from outside the box, catching Karl Darlow in an awkard position.

‘Expert’ thinks player will be banned after Leeds United game

Burnley vs Leeds

Hannibal Mejbri Credit: Imago

Late in the second half, with Leeds desperate for a way back in the game, Hannibal Mejbri came on to maintain the lead for Burnley. The midfielder is no stranger to causing tension on the pitch. He tried to provoke a reaction from a Leeds player after a late tackle, but nothing happened. After the Clarets won, it was revealed that Mejbri allegedly spat at the away fans.

Football finance expert Dan Plumley thinks the Burnley player will face a fine and a ban for his behaviour:

“Definitely, he’ll probably get both, that is how they would look to do it.

“Crazy moments of madness like that, you just can’t be doing that.

“Ultimately, that is going to end up with a likely ban and a fairly hefty fine, I would say as well, especially if it has been captured and documented, and they have got evidence of it, there is no other way that goes.”

Daniel Farke has a crucial game on Friday

Leeds boss Daniel Farke will want the week to move even faster ahead of the West Ham game. There has been a lot said this week about his coaching of the team. Three defeats in the last five games is not a good look. Hopefully the Whites can get a big result at home on Friday.
