According to Phil Hay, Servette defender Diego Monteiro is set to undergo a medical ahead of a move to Leeds United.
The defender, who turned 18 last week, has been a target for Leeds over the last month. The club is keen to add another elite talent to their impressive youth program.
“As per Italian media, Diego Llorente set to sign for Roma. Loan to the end of the season with obligation which will see Leeds recoup at least the £18m they paid for him in 2020. Sevette centre-back Diogo Monteiro in England to undergo a medical with Leeds today.” Hay said on his Twitter account.
Monteiro was a key figure with Portugal’s U17 side that reached the semi-finals of the U17 Euros in 2022. He made his professional debut at 16 in 2021, making him one of the youngest defenders to appear in the Swiss Super League.
So far, no fee has been reported with the club keen to seal the deal in the coming hours.
