Positive developments emerge as Crysencio Summerville returns to training

Young Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville is set to resume training this week as the Whites gear up for the return of the Premier League season, as per a report from the York Press.

With Leeds set to face current league champions Manchester City at Elland Road on 28 December, the involvement of the high-flying Dutch youngster in the match day squad could prove pivotal.

According to the article, the Whites’ upcoming friendly against French side AS Monaco on Wednesday [21 December] “may come too soon” to see Summerville feature after he picked up an ankle injury in another friendly against Elche whilst the team were in Spain.

It was this injury which saw the Dutchman ruled out of Friday’s friendly fixture against Real Sociedad, a match which saw Leeds emerge 2-1 victors.

Given Summerville’s impressive form, having scored four goals in his last four Premier League appearances, it is understood that he is not to be risked on Wednesday if not fully fit.

Encouraging

News of Summerville’s return to training is certainly a positive development after the Dutch youngster was pictured in a protective boot following the injury he sustained against Elche.

He has made quite an impression since his call up to the Whites first-team, with his direct, skilful play a key contributing factor to an admirable goal return.

Leeds boss Jesse Marsch will be hoping that this young star will be be able to evade further injury, and also continue his pre-World Cup break form, when Manchester City come calling to Elland Road on the 28th.
