Leeds United vs Hull City: Predicted Leeds XI and how to watch live

Leeds United are back in action tonight as they face Yorkshire rivals Hull City in the Carabao Cup.

The second round clash at Elland Road comes just four days after the Whites’ heroic 4-3 defeat to Liverpool in their Premier League opener.

Perhaps more crucially though, Marcelo Bielsa’s men are just three days out from their second league game against fellow newly-promoted side Fulham.

Saturday’s game at home to the Cottagers is a huge encounter and the result could shape United’s season, with many predicting Bielsa’s side to flourish in the top-flight after their impressive performance at Anfield.

However, that in turn brings more pressure to a Leeds side who know Fulham will be no pushovers, and to give themselves the best chance of picking up the club’s first Premier League win in 16 years, they need a fully-fit squad.

Because of that it is likely Bielsa will rest a number of his key players for tonight’s clash against the Tigers, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the Whites will be significantly weakened.

Kiko Casilla will replace Illan Meslier in goal, while Jamie Shackleton and Barry Douglas are likely to deputise in the full-back roles.

It’s unclear just how fit captain Liam Cooper is but if he’s able to play, then we predict he will play him alongside Robin Koch to allow the pair to build an understanding ahead of Saturday.

The lack of cover for England international Kalvin Phillips will see Pascal Struijk pushed into the defensive midfield role, with Mateusz Klich to retain his place to ensure Leeds remain strong in central midfield.

Ezgjan Alioski and Ian Poveda will take their places on the wings, Tyler Roberts is almost certain to replace Pablo Hernandez and play just behind new big-money signing Rodrigo.

Predicted Leeds XI to face Hull City: Casilla, Shackleton, Cooper, Koch, Douglas, Struijk, Klich, Alioski, Poveda, Roberts, Rodrigo.

As we know, Marcelo Bielsa is not the easiest man to read at times so don’t be surprised if we are not 100 percent right.

Tonight’s game kicks off at 7.45pm and is available to watch via carabaocup.live – the cost to stream is £10 with no discount for season ticket holders.
