The new season is upon us and it’s a chance for Leeds to build on the success of last term. Despite being in their first season back in the top flight, the Mighty Whites finished ninth last year, giving themselves a good platform from which to build.

Analysis:

I fancy Leeds to have enough to beat the teams you would expect them to. Of course, on one or two occasions 10 men behind the ball will deny the Whites, but in general Leeds should be toppling the likes of Crystal Palace, Southampton and the three newly promoted sides. But what about their chances against the big boys? I think it could be a bit of a repeat of last season with Bielsa’s boys getting caught out with their style on occasions, but the last 10 games of last season proved that Leeds have what it takes to match it with the best and their fans will be hoping to experience another day like they witnessed at the Etihad against Man City in April – and if that could be against Manchester United then it will be all the more sweeter.

Ultimately, I see Leeds topping last year’s points total but only just with 62 compared to last season’s 59. That should be enough to leave then at least eighth in the table and within touching distance of European football.
