Premier League battle threaten to edge Leeds United out of race for attacking midfielder

Leeds United want to spend money in the winter window and the club are prepared to make more money available to manager Daniel Farke in January to strengthen the squad.

The Whites are third in the Championship standings and are one of the strongest favourites to earn promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season.

Leeds were in a similar position last season but the Whites lost the promotion playoff final after finishing just outside the top two of Leicester City and Ipswich Town.

They are desperate to avoid such a situation and the club are prepared to spend money in the winter window to strengthen the squad and ensure that they do not lose steam towards the end of the campaign.

Farke wants to bring in reinforcements in defence and midfielder and signing an attacking midfielder is on his agenda as they only have Brenden Aaronson as an option.

James McAtee was linked with a move to Leeds last summer and the Manchester City star has again emerged as a target for the Whites ahead of the winter window.

Two Premier League clubs threaten to spoil Leeds’ plans

Leeds are expected to try and sign McAtee but it seems they are set to face an uphill task in convincing McAtee to move to the Championship.

According to GiveMeSport, West Ham and Crystal Palace are prepared to make a move for the player in the Janaury transfer window.

The two Premier League sides are convinced that Manchester City will be open to selling the midfielder in the upcoming month or so.

McAtee has not been given enough opportunities this season and Manchester City are planning to bring in players that will further push him down the pecking order.

West Ham and Crystal Palace are preparing to get into talks with Manchester City to agree on a deal to sign the 22-year-old attacking midfielder in January.

Leeds want McAtee but the midfielder is unlikely to choose to play in the Championship when he has suitors in the Premier League.
