Premier League club pull 49ers’ ”excuse” as manager under pressure is performing worse than Daniel Farke

Leeds United have had a mixed start to the season so far, picking up four points from their four league games so far. Some will say this is a poor start to the campaign, but for a newly-promoted side at this stage, there is a lot of positives.

Leeds deserved more from the game last week when they lost to Fulham in the dying minutes of the game to an own goal. Gabriel Gudmundsson made the unfortunate error of heading into his own net from a corner.

Daniel Farke has a lot of work to do on the team ahead of their game against Wolves this coming weekend. Fans will be hoping the Whites can pick up a result against a team with zero points in the Premier League.

Leeds fans are not pleased with the start of the season for many reasons. First off, the failure to bring in reinforcements in attack was seen as a poor end to a very good transfer window. And lastly, many see the performances on the pitch as Daniel Farke’s poor coach – Leeds have won just one game this season.

A team that is doing much worse than the Whites this season is West Ham. After backing Graham Potter during the summer, many expected him to get off to a hot start. But after three losses in four games, the pitchforks have come out. Just like the 49ers using Leeds managing director Robbie Evans as their mouth piece, the Hammers also released a statement after a poor start to the season.

The 49ers ”blamed” PSR for not being able to spend on key areas, and West Ham’s owners used a similar defence for their poor campaign so far:

“We are operating within the current PSR rules governed by the Premier League, which limit us to maximum losses over a rolling three-year period of £105million (£35million per year), and we try to maintain the balance by remaining both compliant and competitive as we have been throughout the last 13 years in the Premier League.

“That means being cautious at times, but it does not point to a lack of ambition. Over £450million has been spent on new player signings in the last three years, including an average net spend of £100m per season in that period, and we have always managed to stay within the PSR rules.”

West Ham and Leeds will both be hoping that their current poor run of form ends soon.
