Leeds United could make a major transfer this summer, and it has got most of the Premier League talking. The Whites have a huge budget to use ahead of next season.

This time around, it looks like the club will look for Premier League experience. Leeds have been linked with the likes of Sam Johnstone, Tomas Soucek and Sean Longstaff. Surviving the league is key, and having players who have been there before is a big plus.

The last time the club was promoted in 2020, the arrivals at Elland Road included a lot of players from leagues across Europe.

Leeds have been linked with Manchester City star James McAtee. The Whites are back in for the midfielder after Pep Guardiola denied letting him go out on loan last summer. McAtee remained with the first team even during the winter, when Leeds were also interested back then.

The situation seems to have escalated after the 22-year was left out of the squad for the FA Cup final.

Former Premier League star Alan Shearer has weighed in on McAtee’s next move. Shearer thinks the midfielder needs to follow Cole Palmer and leave Manchester City:

“He’s not getting in their team. He’s another one that is going to have to leave.”

Ex-City man Micah Richards also shared his thoughts, on the Rest is Football podcast.

“He’s not probably the same level as Cole Palmer, but McAtee will go somewhere and will light it up. He will light it up. He’s got something special.”

McAtee could be a star

James McAtee could easily follow in the footsteps of Cole Palmer. His ability was exceptional during his loan spells with Sheffield United. The midfielder managed over 20 goal contributions in the Championship, and later the Premier League.

Despite limited appearances this season, he has seven goals for Manchester City. An attacking midfielder with an eye for goal is exactly what Daniel Farke could do with in the Premier League.
