Leeds United fans were not pleased with how the transfer deadline came and went. The Whites signed 10 players during the window but how it ended rubbed fans the wrong way.

Daniel Farke kept asking for attacking reinforcements since pre-season, but Leeds only signed three players for him. Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin joined on free transfers while Noah Okafor signed from AC Milan. But as the games went by in the league, it became clearer that there were still some pieces missing.

Leeds managed two goals in four games in all competitions entering the international break, with one coming from the penalty spot.

Fulham give ultimatum to Leeds United target

In a desperate attempt on deadline day, Leeds pursued a move for Fulham’s Harry Wilson. The attacker agreed terms with the Whites, but a move fell through as the London club pulled the plug.

But in a shocking turn of events, the Mirror is now reporting that Fulham have told clubs that Wilson will be available in January. The London club are keen to make some money off the player in order not to lose him for free next summer when his contract expires. It is also believed the player has been given an ultimatum on whether he wants to stay.

Robbie Evans on why the move for Wilson collapsed

Leeds United managing director Robbie Evans sat with local media to discuss the past transfer window. He had the chance to explain what went down on deadline day when the Whites failed to complete a move for Fuham star Harry Wilson:

“It’s pretty straightforward in that we had a player targeted, and it didn’t come through. We thought we had the right price. We put the offer in above that price, the player was on board. Club couldn’t get it done. Their club couldn’t get it done. We sent the deal sheet in after being given some indication it could work.”

Fulham juggling their own transfers on deadline day seemed to play a huge part.

“But they were also doing three deals at once, coming in yesterday. So Fulham signed 85 million euros worth of wingers yesterday. And whether it was out of time or they just decided not to sell, we don’t know. But it didn’t happen. Thankfully for us, that’s why we did the overwhelming majority of our business before the last day of the window. So we missed that one, we didn’t get him and it’s kind of that simple.”
