“did he look £35m? I don’t think so” – Pundit questions Leeds record signing

Jon Newsome has questioned Leeds’ decision to spend a club record fee on Georginio Rutter, during the FA Cup game against Fulham.

Rutter arrived at Elland Road in January for a reported £35million from Hoffenheim. The highly rated forward spent three seasons in Germany, scoring 11 goals. He is yet to scored in Leeds colours, leading to recent criticisms.

BBC Leeds Radio pundit Jon Newsome is now questioning the signing:

“He looked decent but did he look £35m? I don’t think so. He looked a lot better than over the last three weeks. Whether that’s because he got a start or he is finding his feet?

“It’s a big price tag around his neck. But I just think the position that the football club were in, are you going out spending money on that kind of potential or are you going out spending that kind of money on a finished article that’s going to come in and make an impact on their season.”

The 20-year old Frenchman is goalless in 5 Premier League appearances, the club will be hoping he can make an impact this season.
