Leeds United have stumbled in recent weeks on their path to automatic promotion. A run of two wins in five has reeled them in, and Sheffield United and Burnley are snapping at their heels. However, Leeds are still at the summit of the Championship table and with eight games left in the season, they are still getting backed to get the job done in the coming weeks.

Daniel Farke and his Leeds United players are working hard behind the scenes to prepare for Swansea’s trip to Elland Road this Saturday. The Whites are under pressure to return to winning ways at home.

Sheffield United and Burnley are closely chasing Leeds, and recent results have increased the anxiety in a fanbase who have bitter memories of the Whites falling apart towards the end of last season.

Questions are being asked about Leeds’ durability, and last season’s collapse is getting brought up regularly ahead of the business end of the campaign.

I still think Leeds United will get promoted – ex-Championship star

Many pundits and observers are developing doubts about Leeds despite many of them insisting that the Whites are the best team in the Championship this season.

Elland Road and the anxiety of the Leeds fans are also being used as an excuse, but former Championship star Joe Jacobson has set aside all this handwringing around the Whites.

He insisted that Elland Road at its best will take Leeds over the line in certain games and stressed that the Whites are still going to be one of the two teams to earn automatic promotion this season.

“I do still think Leeds will go up. You [Jobi McAnuff] talked about Elland Road, but I also think that Elland Road can win them games as well”, Jacobson said on BBC’s 72+ podcast.

“The fans there, and if they get on top, then they are a force to be reckoned with.

“So, I’m going with Leeds and Burnley, they are my two to go up, and yes, I’ve said it, and you can come back at me after the season is finished if you want to.”

Leeds are the best team in the Championship, and the run-in works in their favour

It is no surprise Leeds are under the scanner after a couple of poor results but surely, pundits cannot be serious about insisting Whites could fall apart.

While most of them are insisting Leeds are the best team in the Championship, they are also questioning whether they could get the results in the coming weeks.

Can you name these past and present Leeds United players?

Have they looked at the run-in? Six of their next eight opponents are in the bottom half of the table, and the Whites have lost just once to a bottom-half team this season.

If Leeds play to their potential, there is no reason they would not comfortably earn automatic promotion to the Premier League in the coming weeks.
