An injury crisis at Leeds United has forced Daniel Farke to look for potential reinforcements in the free agents market. Both Ilia Gruev and Ethan Ampadu were big hits to The Whites following long-term injuries.
Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell remain the only first-team options in the middle of the park. Farke is currently scouring out multiple free options in order to secure a backup.
The German manager is searching for an experienced backup who can also offer mentorship to the youngsters. Christoph Kramer is the most recent player to end up on trial at Thorp Arch.
With Francis Coquelin also in the mix, The 49ers are expected to seal a deal in the coming days. However, the fitness of these players will be of key concern to Farke as being free means they haven’t trained professionally for quite some time now.
Cheikhou KouyatƩ failed medicals hence Leeds took a u-turn on that deal. Logic says that fitness would have played a big role in the test.
If Daniel Farke fails to find suitable replacements, he’ll have to look into Leeds United’s loanees. Darko Gyabi is out on loan at Plymouth Argyle and pundit Carlton Palmer believes that he might be called back if The Whites fail to find potential reinforcements.

Carlton Palmer thinks that Darko Gyabi might be the last option for Leeds United

Francis Coquelin’s potential signing might be a huge sigh of relief for Plymouth Argyle
Talking to Football League World, Palmer revealed that Plymouth will be hoping that United find reinforcements in order to avoid a recall for Darko Gyabi.
Plymouth will be hoping and keeping their fingers crossed that with Leeds United looking at bringing in another midfield player to help shore up with the injuries to Ampadu and Gruev, they donāt recall Darko Gyabi.
If he continues to play the way that he is, yes, Plymouth may have a problem if thereās a recall clause. It wouldnāt surprise me, if the injuries continue, that Darko is recalled in January.

Palmer mentioned that a recall clause would not be in The Pilgrims’ best interests. If the Englishman continues his form, a recall in January would be imminent.
The injuries would also be a factor as Leeds United would want their player to have a learning curve away from home. Although if The Whites secure a free agent and the squad depth remains intact, a recall wouldn’t be on the to-do list.
