Leeds winger Raphinha has enjoyed a superb first season in the Premier League, lighting up Elland Road with his speed and skill.
Signed from French club Rennes in the summer for a measly £17 million, there is no question Marcelo Bielsa can spot a player and the Whites capture of the Brazilian is undoubtedly one of the buys of the season.
Since making his full debut against Arsenal in November, Raphinha has got better each week and his recent performances have attracted a number of admirers.
Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher recently likened him to Liverpool’s Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Man City speedster Raheem Sterling.
“We’ve all been there as players and as soon as someone comes in, you think: ‘Aye, aye’,” Carragher told Monday Night Football.
“Some of his touches and his play when he comes inside, we’ve highlighted his movement as well… that’s so typical of a wide man, that penetrating run that we talk about with Salah, Mane and Sterling, all the great wide players.
“They make that run and he does. He has great quality on the ball.”
And so would have it that Carragher’s former club Liverpool are the clear favourites to be Raphinha’s next club should he move on from Leeds.
The 23-year-old signed a four-year contract at Elland Road in October meaning the West Yorkshire club would demand a significant fee to let him goes before that expires.
Also in running with Sky Bet are Tottenham, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, however it is the remaining Premier League champions who remain in the driving seat for the talented wide man.
