“I am really happy to be here,” – Josuha Guilavogui

Josuha Guilavogui is excited for the opportunity to play for Leeds United

After a long saga for defensive reinforcements, Leeds United finally found their man in Bundesliga star Josuha Guilavogui.

Daniel Farke was left with only two midfield options following injuries to Ilia Gruev and Ethan Ampadu. Another injury to defender Maximilian Wöber only added to the German’s stress.

There were many trialists at Thorp Arch as free agents tried to impress Farke with their allure. However, none of them offered the same level of versatility as Guilavogui.

A midfielder who can also play as a defender, Daniel Farke couldn’t have asked for a better utility man. Although the Frenchman will primarily be a backup, his versatility and experience will be put to good use at Elland Road.

After the signing was officially completed, Josuha talked about his intentions and goals at Leeds United. The former French international seemed clear of his role at Elland Road.

“I had some offers, but nothing that I would say, okay, let’s do it. And when my agent called me and said that Daniel has interest to sign me and watched over me, I said, yeah, let’s go straight, straight to Leeds”, Josuha told LUTV.

“When I spoke with our manager, he knows what I can bring on the pitch and also outside the pitch, because we don’t forget that we have injured players and I am there to help them. And when they will recover, I will also help the young players.”

“That is why I was captain, like everywhere where I played, because I am someone that is always thinking about how can I make my teammates better, how can I improve. I am here for helping the team and I really hope that we will go to the Premier League.”

Guilavogui is hailed as a legend at VfL Wolfsburg. He made over 250 appearances for The White and Greens winning the DFB Pokal and DFL Supercup in the process.

The former French international also had a brief stint with Atlético de Madrid. Guilavogui was a part of the La Liga winning Atlético squad in the 2013/14 season.

A product of the Saint-Étienne academy, Josuha also has a Coupe de la Ligue to his name. Nevertheless, the Frenchman’s impeccable experience will be of extensive use at Elland Road as Daniel Farke will be at ease with enough depth to compete for promotion.
