‘Really strong side’ – Leeds boss highlights the challenge posed by Norwich City

Daniel Farke speaking at a Leeds United press conference.

Leeds United put on a strong display on Saturday, comfortably beating fellow Championship team Coventry City 3-0 at Elland Road. They’ll now aim to carry that momentum into their next match at Carrow Road.

The Whites have won two straight matches against clubs at the bottom of the Championship table, with victories over Cardiff City and Coventry City. Moreover, Leeds are fifth in the Championship table with 14 points and are two points away from the top spot.

Nonetheless, Daniel Farke and his team will experience the grind of the league this week. After the contest on Saturday against Coventry, Leeds will face Norwich City on Tuesday and then have another game on Friday for three games in one week.

Daniel Farke praises Norwich City under Johannes Hoff Thorup

Last season, Farke made two trips to Carrow Road while managing the Whites, but this time, he’ll be facing a new opponent in the dugout: Johannes Hoff Thorup, who was appointed as the Canaries’ manager this summer. The German tactician praised how the squad has looked like under the new boss.

“So first of all, they had several changes also in key positions,” Farke told Leeds’ official website. “But for me, they are a really strong side. They have a good balance between experience and youth. Some very experienced players for this level, with Duffy, McLean, Sargent meanwhile as well, but also some good, really good young players with lots of potential.

“So they seem to be there with a good mix. Especially with really good results in the recent games and impressive home form, unbeaten at home. Their last home game was an impressive win over Watford. Then, an impressive away win, I think the first team since ages who was able to win three points at Derby.

“So they’re in good shape and they play also from their processes with a clear structure, with clear principles and are pretty, pretty flexible. It’s not easy to prepare for what they do because they have many, many options in terms of what they want to do on the pitch. But yeah, we also have a good side and each other game is also difficult.”
