REVEALED: Marcelo Bielsa admits he wishes he coached these 2 players

Marcelo Bielsa has been in the football world for a long time now, and in turn has managed some truly fantastic players.

Bielsa has been in charge of coaching brilliant football players such as Gabriel Batistuta, Alexis Sanchez, Aymeric Laporte and of course Pablo Hernandez. But he has admitted that he would love to have been able to manage 2 players in particular.

Speaking in a Q&A for Sky Sports, Bielsa was asked “Who is one player in history you wish you could have coached?” to which Bielsa responded by namedropping Lionel Messi (who made his Argentina debut a year after Bielsa left) and Diego Maradona. “I grew up admiring those…great Argentinian players.”

Messi is in fact a fan of Bielsa’s hometown club, Newells Old Boys. Their stadium is named after Bielsa himself, so I’m sure Messi wouldn’t have minded to have been coached by Bielsa at some point either.
