Leeds United have a global reach and are one of the most famous football clubs in England.
Despite having been in the lower divisions of English football in the past few years, support for the club has never been better. From celebrities to actors, the number of famous people who support the club continues to grow. The takeover of 49ers Enterprises has only increased the club’s visibility. Adidas and Red Bull are the latest to get involved with the club.
Since the American group got involved with the club, the likes of NBA star Russell Westbrook and other high profile celebrities from across the pond have even invested in Leeds United. Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps and Major golf champion Jordan Spieth are currently minority stakeholders at the club.

Ricky Gervais make shocking revelation about Leeds United
Marcelo Bielsa’s time at the club is fondly remembered by every Leeds United fan. When the Argentine arrived at the club, he turned things around completely. His presence and how he got the team to play football won over the crowd at Elland Road. Bielsa became a local hero in the community. He was loved by everyone at the club even after his departure in 2022.
‘Take Us Home: Leeds United’ was a football documentary shot during Bielsa’s time at the club. It was a very popular show made by Amazon Prime which got a lot of non-Leeds fans to be emotionally invested in the club. One of these fans was Ricky Gervais.
The English actor and comedian revealed that the documentary made him fall in love with football again:
“What really got me back into (football), was a documentary, is it Sunderland Till I Die? The fact that it was like a religion to them, the whole community was involved, I thought it was a really well-made thing. I watched the Man City one, then I watched the Leeds one, then I watched the (Mikel) Arteta one and I was hooked, and now I’m fascinated with it – I watch every game that’s on TV, I absolutely love it again.” he said speaking on The Overlap.

A documentary shot when the club was in the Championship was so great that a huge fan rediscovered his love for the sport again. Leeds United are still one of the biggest clubs in England, and this more than proves how big the club can grow in the near future.
