Sam Byram is one of the players out of contract this summer. The fullback joined Leeds United in the summer when Daniel Farke arrived. It was the German coach who took a chance on the veteran. Farke knew Byram would be a good fit on the team when he saw how he played in pre season.

After winning his first major trophy of his career, the 31-year old had a lot of good things to say about the Leeds boss:

“I’ve not said it to him, but he’s probably saved my career in a way,” Byram said via The Athletic.

“The last year at Norwich and over a few seasons there, I’d had an incredible amount of injuries. For him to give me a chance to come back and be involved in something like this, I’ll never be able to repay him. For me to be back at my boyhood club and be able to play and be involved, it’s amazing.”

His interview sounded more like a farewell to Farke, and the club as he prepares to leave this summer.

Sam Byram has been a great servant

Byram has been a key squad player for the Whites. He played his role, and was very useful last season before the arrival of Jayden Bogle. His success story will no doubt be one of the highlights of this Championship winning side.

The defender has had a great spell, but with Leeds going up to the Premier League, some players will be inevitably left behind. Now is a great time for Sam Byram to leave on a high.
