Scott Parker complains about Leeds United once again – Burnley boss bemoans fixture schedule

Leeds United

Burnley won on Friday night to go three points above Leeds United on top of the Championship table. Even after the win Scott Parker could not resist from taking a jab at the Whites.

Goals from Hannibal Mejbri and Jaidon Anthony were enough to seal all three points for the Clarets against Norwich. Leeds now have all the pressures on their shoulders ahead of Saturday’s game. Daniel Farke’s men will play in the early kick-off against Preston.

Leeds will hope to continue their impressive home form – the team are unbeaten at Elland Road this year. It will be a tough ask for the Whites as they will be without Daniel James among three other absentees. Daniel Farke also confirmed this week that Pascal Stuijk’s season is over, after the defender picked up an ankle injury.

Burnley boss complains about Leeds United schedule again

Before Burnley’s Friday night game against Norwich, Scott Parker complained about the schedule. He felt it was an advantage for Leeds to play after the Clarets. After his side’s 2-1 win, he once again mentioned that Burnley are on the ”wrong side” of the fixture list:

“We got the job done and I thought we were superb for the majority of the game to be honest with you. For the first 45 minutes I asked the lads came with a real intensity and I understood the dynamics, we’ve probably been on the wrong side of the fixture list, it was such a quick turnaround. What I put on the lads and what I asked from them was a big demand for the first 45 minutes, we were incredible in terms of every phase, attacking, defensively really locked them in, came with real high energy.”

Scott Parker has no point

Parker is once again complaining about nothing. Since March, Leeds have played days before Burnley once, and Burnley have also played a day before Leeds once. Friday’s game against Norwich makes it just two times the Clarets have played before the Whites. There is no suggestion that Burnley are on the wrong side of any scheduling.

What a ridiculous non-story! Parker didn’t mention Leeds – or Sheffield United. Main differences between the Burnley approach compared to Leeds? On the pitch Burnley have solid structures and methods to fall back on when the flair isn’t working, and just get on with the next game. Off the pitch, neither their club nor online chatter obsess about who everyone else is playing and how many points they’re likely to get. No wonder Leeds get diarrhea at squeaky bum time every season!
