Scott Parker thinks Leeds United have been handed fixture schedule advantage in promotion race – The mind games have started

Leeds United

Burnley boss Scott Parker is feeling the pressure in the promotion race as he says Leeds United have advantage in the fixture schedule.

The Clarets face Norwich on Friday night, before Leeds take on Preston on Saturday. Both sides are neck and neck in the promotion race. Farke’s men are top of the Championship, but are level on points with Burnley. Sheffield United, who play at the same time as Leeds on Saturday, are lurking just two points behind. With two automatic promotion spots still up for grabs, the race is set to go down to the wire.

Leeds will hope to avoid the play-offs after what happened last year. The Whites slipped up in the final weeks of the campaign and had to go through the play-offs.

Burnley will play on Friday night, which means the pressure is on them to get a result. Leeds will play early on Saturday. With both teams being so close in the promotion race, Scott Parker has complained about why his team are playing first.

When asked about the fixture schedule in Friday’s press conference, Parker answered:

“We’ve fallen on the wrong side of it. No denying that. Of course we have. I think that’s very clear. But no, it is what it is.

“We’re used to that and these players are primed and always at their optimum, professional athletes that are at their fittest, to be honest with you.”

The Burnley boss seems to be rattled by Leeds in recent weeks. He even decided not to respond to Daniel Farke’s claim that the Whites are guaranteed to win promotion. Leeds face Preston on Saturday, and will be without Dan James for the crucial game.

Is Parker right about fixture schedule?

This is just complaining from the Burnley boss. Since March, Leeds have played days before Burnley once, and Burnley have also played a day before Leeds once. This weekend makes it two times the Clarets have played before the Whites. There is not really any basis to suggest Leeds have an undue advantage. Scott Parker is just feeling the pressure from the promotion race.
