Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi has agreed to join Sheffield United in a loan deal. The Blades beat Leeds United, Queen Park Rangers, Hull City and Watford to sign the winger on loan.
The Whites were eager on signing a winger this summer following the departure of Crysencio Summerville. The Dutchman had a great season which earned him a move to Premier League outfit West Ham United.
He finished the 2023/24 season with 21 goals and 10 assists. This campaign earned the winger a Championship Player of the Season award. The West Yorkshire outfit is now keen on finding the Dutchman’s replacement.
Crysencio made great contributions to Leeds’ campaign last season where the club tried to gain promotion to the Premier League. However, The Whites lost to Southampton in the promotion play-off finals which meant they’ll spend another season in the second-tier.
Financial troubles led to many players leaving either on loan or permanently. Summerville was one of Leeds’ biggest assets but they lost him to West Ham United for Ā£25 million.
They also lost Archie Gray to Tottenham who was the most promising youngster on the squad. The West Yorkshire outfit then tried finding replacements in Jonathan Rowe, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, Sontje Hansen and Morgan Whittaker.
Jesurun Rak-Sakyi agrees on a loan deal with Sheffield United
According to Football Insider, the Crystal Palace winger has agreed to join Sheffield United on a loan. This comes in as a big blow to Leeds United as Jesurun was a backup plan if they failed to sign Jonathan Rowe.
The Rowe situation is intense at the moment. Both clubs have varying valuations for the player and things don’t look good for The Whites. They’d want to get this deal done quickly or they’ll be left with nothing in the end.
Norwich City values the winger at Ā£15 million and Leeds’ initial offer was a lowly Ā£7 million. The Canaries’ valuation is more than two times that of The Whites.
Rak-Sakyi was also a better replacement for Summerville in terms of creativity. Rowe is more of a goalscorer than a chance creator hence Jesurun would’ve offered a complete package.
The Crystal Palace winger will have his first season in the Championship and a second one in the EFL. He previously was on loan at Charlton Athletic in the 2022/23 season where he impressed gaining attention from various clubs.
Now that he’s gone United will have to move fast with the Rowe deal or at least move on to the others.
