Leeds United are now focused on working to add a few bodies in attack. The club spent the early part of the transfer window adding some depth to midfield and the backline.

Daniel Farke spoke to the media, revealing that the club specifically targeted some signings for their physical qualities. Almost every signing that has arrived this summer is 6ft and above, and is used to physicality.

When asked about these requirements, Farke said it was to help the team to better succeed in the Premier League.

“You have to make sure that you are also good at defending crosses. Also more corner kicks, more wide-area free kicks against us. It’s important to be really, really good and strong.

“Also on the other end. Because I’m not sure if we can dominate all of the games in the manner we did on Championship level.”

Journalist confirms player talks with Leeds United

On Thursday, a report from Holland claimed that Leeds had held talks with Sheffield midfielder Gustavo Hamer. The 28-year old has been a top target of the club since last year. In the past month, interest in the player has seen an increase – clubs like PSV and Palmeiras are keen on signing the Blades star.

Graeme Bailey has now confirmed that Leeds indeed held talks with the midfielder:

“Hamer is assessing his options, he has had talks with Leeds and PSV Eindhoven – but I am told nothing is imminent, but it is clear he wants to leave Sheffield United this summer and will.” he said to Leeds United News.

There was an emphasis on nothing happening ”right now” which could mean that a move could take place later in the transfer window.

Club will continue to be firm on their stance on transfer fees

Graham Smyth recently spoke on Leeds United continuing their stance this summer. The club are ambitious in their dealings with clubs and transfer targets, but one thing they will not budge on is their valuation of a player.

“For Leeds, I think as long as it doesn’t stretch to silly money, and it starts to jeopardise getting your nine in, getting your goalkeeper in and getting the other bits they need to bulk out the squad.” Smyth said.

“I think they are still in the race, but it cannot get to silly money.”

This was part of the reason why Leeds left the race for Sunderland to sign Habib Diarra from Strasbourg.

Leeds need someone to provide that spark in midfield

Although it looks like Daniel Farke will switch systems to a 4-3-3, there will still be a need for that creative midfielder. Hamer is no stranger to playing deeper than the normal number 10 role.

The Blades star has all the tools to play as a number eight in the Premier League. His addition would add a midfielder with a much different skillset from the club’s current options.
