Shock club interested in Archie Gray

With the situation looking very likely that Archie Gray goes out on loan in January, a lot of clubs have lined up as potential suitors.

Gray has not played much in the Premier League since joining Spurs this summer. He has played in the EFL cup and started all the club’s games in the Europa League.

The young midfielder was instrumental in Leeds’ campaign last season and won the club’s young player of the year award. He was also named in the EFL Championship team of the season.

Everything has not been straightforward this season, with the midfielder struggling for playing time in the Premier League.

Gray has been linked with a loan move to his former club Leeds United recently. The midfielder has also been linked to Sevilla, where former Leeds director of football Victor Orta is in charge.

Former Leeds man Carlton Palmer has said that a move to another Premier League club would be a better prospect than a return to Gray’s boyhood club:

“It would be a great bit of business if they could pull it off, but there will be lots of competition for the midfielder.

“I don’t think he’d want to go to the likes of Southampton, who are struggling, maybe Leicester City, who are just outside the drop.

“I think it would be a great fit for him to return to Leeds. He’s only 18, very versatile, as Leeds fans know, and he could play a major part from Christmas until the end of the season, by helping them get promoted back to the Premier League.”

Would Archie Gray choose Leeds?

If the choice is in Gray’s hands a loan move to Leeds United would be the best for all parties. Returning to a familiar environment would bring the best out of the midfielder.

And with Leeds looking for reinforcements in the middle of the park, the deal makes the best sense. Another season at Elland Road, competing for Premier League promotion would be better than fighting relegation with a Leicester City or Southampton side.

He could end up staying at Spurs in January, but there are only so many cup games he can play before they are eventually knocked out.
